About Our School

Edison Elementary School is a neighborhood school located just a few blocks away from Alameda’s bustling Park Street and Central Avenue shopping and dining district.  With a population of approximately 480 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth and a robust Parent Teacher Association, Edison Elementary School is a thriving and vibrant community.  The staff is made up of highly dedicated individuals who bring years of experience and knowledge to teaching each child at Edison.  Edison Otters are active and hard-working students who contribute to the school community in a number of ways.  Our students strive to uphold the Edison Citizen Agreements and are committed to our Go Green efforts.  Edison’s PTA further enhances the learning environment at Edison with many programs, funding, field trips, technology, classroom materials, and other essential resources.

Please explore our website to learn more about Edison Elementary School and our outstanding Edison Otters.

Welcome Back to School!

School will begin on Monday, August 20, 2018

Please arrive on campus by 8:10am.

Attendance is Important!

Please remember!  Attendance is important!

Students who arrive on time, and are ready to go in the morning, get the most out of their school experience.

Students who arrive late must go to the office to obtain a late pass, before they are allowed in the classroom.  This applies to all students, from Kindergarten on up.

Please ensure your child is ready to go for school by preparing their lunch the night before if they are bringing, deciding on what to wear the night before, and that all backpacks, schoolwork, and everything needed for the day is ready to go and by your front door.

By preparing for the next day, it can make your morning run that much smoother, and help your child arrive to school on time.

Boy Scouts Improve Edison Campus

Boy Scouts Improve Edison Campus

Two former Edison students were honored for completing Boy Scout Eagle Scout projects at Edison Elementary School this week. Brendan Mills restored a map of the United States painted on the school’s blacktop. Carl Howell created an outdoor classroom to enhance the teaching and learning that happens at Edison.

Such projects give boy scouts opportunities to learn to lead others while also helping the community.

“Both of these young men have exemplified the traits of cheerful service and unrelenting pursuit of getting these projects completed,” Principal Robert Slauson said in his remarks. “In spite of red tape, obstacles, and challenges, they managed to complete these wonderful projects. We are better off as a school because of it!”

“We are grateful that these students have returned to give back to their elementary school,” said Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. “And we thank them for their perseverance and contributions to others.”

Annual Back-to-School Registration for 2017-2018

AUSD uses Back-to-School Registration every year to confirm that a student will be attending a district school in the upcoming school year. The registration also gives parent/guardians a chance to update emergency contacts, acknowledge annual authorizations, and review the district’s policies. We ask that parent/guardians complete the registration via our InfoSnap online system as soon as possible.

To get started, you will need your student’s unique 2017-18 SnapCode. We will send these out by email starting July 26. (If we don’t have a valid email, we will send the SnapCode to you via postal mail.) If you do not receive this information by August 7, please contact your student’s school site directly for assistance. The easiest way to access registration is to click the snapcode link in the email. If you receive a letter or need to log back into InfoSnap click here:
