ALAMEDA READS Helps Adults Improve Their Reading and Writing

 Do you want to read, write and spell better?  Are you over 18 years old?  Then please call Alameda Reads at 510-865-2454!

Alameda Reads is a free service of the Alameda Free Library.  Our program runs all year and the summer is a great time to join. We help adults who can speak English comfortably and want to improve their skills. Friendly volunteers help people in our learning lab and in small group classes. Adults in our program learn how to read books to their children, write emails for work, read a newspaper, apply for a job, prepare for the citizenship exam or get ready for the GED test. Girls Inc Summer Sailing Camp

Girls Inc. of the Island City is collaborating with Alameda Community Sail to offer a discounted 2 week sailing camp! This will be happening June 26- July 7 (excluding July 4), 9AM-4PM, Monday-Friday. The cost is $50 and it is open to girls ages 9-17. This opportunity is limited to 13 girls, so email Hannah Joy Wirshing at hwirshing@girlsincislandcity.org in order to fill out a registration form and reserve a spot.

Little Theater Summer CampAlameda’s very first theater camp for kids by kids! At Little Theater day camp, we give your campers the tools to explore the theatrical process through singing, dancing, acting exercises, improvisation and much more. Their week is sure to be full of endless creativity, imagination and inspiration. Your campers will produce a 30-minute production to showcase their new skill set with friends and family at the end of each week. This is an opportunity your campers won’t want to miss. June 7: “A Time to Choose” Documentary on Climate Change

Please join Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, and Tom Dinwoodie, former co-founder of SunPower, for a screening of "A Time to Choose," the 2016 documentary about global climate challenges and current solutions for solving them. Michaan's Auction Theater (2700 Saratoga Street, Alameda). Brune and Dinwoodie (who also directed the film) will participate in a panel discussion after the film. 6:30 pm. Bladium Summer Camp Registration Open

Discovery, Adventure, and Fun!

At Camp Bladium, children can experience a wide variety of

games and activities: Rock Climbing, Basketball, Dodgeball,

Karaoke, Kickball, Arts and Crafts, Laser Tag, Cheerleading,

Jumpers, Lego®, and Water World (in warm weather). Each week

of Summer Camp features a different fun theme, creating a unique
